Awesome evening on Wednesday for the 20th annual Taste of Southington at The Barnes Museum. Great food from local restaurants and food trucks, great music from the Stanley Big Street Band, and great people. A special thank you to Christina Volpe, Barnes Museum Curator, for her ongoing leadership and excellent execution of this community event.

Thank you to the Sons of Italy, UNICO Club, and Sorelle d’Italia for organizing the Southington Italian-American Festival earlier this week. The lineup of activities, food, outdoor mass and procession were all beautiful!

Paving on State Routes in Southington

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a pavement marking project will be performed on state routes in District 1, including Southington, starting August 6 and going through November 30.

The following state routes in Southington are included in this project:

  • Routes 509, 532 and 597: Southington
  • Route 10: Cheshire and Southington
  • Route 322: Wolcott and Southington

The project consists of pavement marking grooves and epoxy pavement marking applications on center lines, shoulder lines and handwork.

Traffic control personnel, sign patterns, cones, and truck mounted attenuators will guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is Sunday through Friday from 8 p.m.-6 a.m.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Please maintain a safe speed when driving in these areas.

Bounce House and Book Bonanza

Celebrate the end of the Southington Public Library's Summer Reading Program at the Barnes Museum!

Children ages 4 and older, and their favorite adults, can come bounce the day away, pick a free book, and take a free tour of the first level of the Barnes Museum on Saturday, August 12 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

No registration is required for this free, drop-in event. For more information, please call at (860) 628-0947, extension 3.

Ev's Backflips for Backpacks

Please support Ev's Backflips for Backpacks on Saturday, August 12 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Town Green. All donation of school supplies like backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, and more will go to Southington Community Services. Plus, every backpack donated will result in a backflip!
