Children's Urgent Crisis Center Opens

August 7, 2023

The state is celebrating the opening of four children’s urgent crisis centers including the Wellmore Behavioral Health in Waterbury. The facility, which is licensed by the Department of Children and Families, will eventually offer 24/7 mental health care for children and teenagers who are in need.

Wellmore functions as a walk-in clinic, providing children, teens, and their families with immediate access to resources during a behavioral health crisis. Some of these services include crisis stabilization support, comprehensive mental health assessment, and short-term medication. The goal of this urgent crisis center is to prevent a trip to the emergency room to address behavioral health.
