GREENWICH DELEGATION WELCOMES COMMISSIONER BOUGHTON TO TOWN

Group toured sites for potential funding through Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

State Representatives Rachel Khanna (D-149th District), Steve Meskers (D-150th District), and Hector Arzeno (D-151st District) joined CT Commissioner of Revenue Services Mark Boughton and town officials to tour several potential sites that may be eligible for federal funding through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Among the group attendees were: Reps. Khanna, Meskers, and Arzeno, First Selectman Fred Camillo, Selectperson Janet Stone McGuigan, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of the Greenwich Department of Public Works Amy Siebert and Jim Michel, and Director of Emergency Management Joe Laucella.

The three sites that were visited were:

  1. The dam near 200 Pemberwick Road
  2. The Town/NYSDOT portion of the Byram River Flood Study Project/Route 1 Bridge replacement (east/west)
  3. The Holly Hill Resource Recovery Facility

"While this is just a first step in the process, I'm pleased with the progress made to identify potential projects in Greenwich that would benefit from the infrastructure grants, so that we can make necessary capital improvements," said Rep. Khanna. "I thank Commissioner Boughton for taking the time to visit Greenwich."

“I want to thank Rep. Rachel Khanna for organizing this visit from our Commissioner of the Department of Revenue Services and our infrastructure czar Mark Boughton,” Rep. Meskers said. “Our House Delegation has worked tirelessly in support of our community and invited the commissioner to help inform our town leaders of the opportunities for both state and federal assistance. The last round of local budgeting left many important projects unfunded including schools, flood mitigation, library enhancements, and firefighting equipment. We hope this collaboration will help us move forward.”

“I am pleased to be part of a House Delegation that works together in the best interest of our town of Greenwich and in support of the wishes of our constituencies for long overdue capital improvements,” Rep. Arzeno said. “I join my colleagues in thanking Rep. Khanna for her tireless work and Commissioner Boughton for taking the time to visit these sites to see the needs first-hand. During the tour at Holly Hill, town officials explained the upgrades and improvements planned for the transfer station. I believe that this project, as well as other ones, might very well be eligible for funding under the Federal Infrastructure Bill. I look forward to a productive partnership that will help us get the needed funding.”

The next steps include Greenwich officials working with Commissioner Boughton's office to apply for available grants.
