I had the exciting opportunity to join Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Monday as we commemorated the thriving partnership between Jamaica and Hartford HealthCare. His visit comes a year after Jamaica and Hartford HealthCare signed a memorandum of understanding. As part of this agreement, Hartford HealthCare provides Jamaica with medical supplies and training equipment for future healthcare workers. 

My Jamaican heritage holds a special place in my heart, so you can imagine how incredibly monumental it was for me to have the honor of meeting Prime Minister Holness. During our conversation, we discussed various ways we can help positively impact both Jamaica and our local communities here in Connecticut. 

Restaurant Day took place on Saturday and showcased the vibrant culinary scene in our community. I had the opportunity to experience five different restaurants including cuisines from Peru, Greece, and Haiti. I also had the chance to have some amazing southern kitchen and American food.

I want to extend my gratitude to all the participating restaurants, their hardworking staff, and everyone who joined me for Restaurant Day. The food and company made this event truly memorable! 

The Backpack & School Supply Drive I held on Sunday was a resounding success, thanks to the incredible support and generosity of our community. The purpose of this event was to ensure that every child in our city has the necessary tools to start the school year off on the right foot. With that being said, I'm incredibly proud to share that we were able to distribute 150 backpacks along with school supplies to students across Norwalk.

By equipping students with the tools they need, we are empowering them to succeed academically and fostering a sense of pride in their education.
