Updates from State Rep. Chris Poulos - August 25, 2023

August 25, 2023

I had a great visit this week to Craft Kitchen. Just before Memorial Day weekend, local business owner and Southington Town Councilor Jack Perry contacted me to see if I could help Craft Kitchen owner Mike Truss facilitate his liquor license for the restaurant’s new location in downtown Plantsville. He had submitted the paperwork and was anxious to open for the holiday weekend. I called Mike, connected him with the director of the Liquor Control Division for the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP), and soon after DCP processed his license. Mike reports that business is thriving, and I am excited to have a great restaurant around the block from my house!

Honoring Judy Roberge

This week, I was honored to present an official state citation to George Roberge and his family at the ARC of Southington’s ribbon-cutting event commemorating the Judy Roberge Pavilion. The ARC of Southington dedicated the pavilion in honor of Judy, who was the organization's first and long-time Recreational Director. Judy joined the ARC in 1995 and was a wonderful advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In her role, Judy created amazing memories with the activities she provided for the people of the ARC. Judy's passion to be helpful, supportive, and to provide the best support to all enriched the lives of so many others. Judy is forever missed by so many.

Catching Up

It was great to bump into and catch up with my good friend and active Waterbury police officer, State Representative Michael DiGiovancarlo. We are both members of the moderate caucus and "DiGi" has been a mentor to me during my first term in the Connecticut General Assembly. Often, I would consult him on the implications of public safety legislation and how our votes would not only make our communities safer, but also how they would impact the work of police officers. His perspective and advice have been an invaluable resource. I am grateful for DiGi's guidance and friendship.
