Help with Tax Preparation

January 23, 2023
The deadline to file your federal and state taxes is April 18, which will be here before you know it!

If you have an Adjusted Gross Income of $73,000 or less, you can file online for free with IRS Free File. For free income tax filing assistance in Connecticut, click here.

Resources to assist you in this year's tax preparation include:

  • AARP Tax-Aide Program: A partnership between the AARP Foundation and IRS that provides free tax counseling and preparation services to middle-and low-income taxpayers, with special attention to people ages 60 and older. Appointments for in-person service at Manchester Senior Center are available from February 1 through April 7 by calling 860-647-6024.
  • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA): VITA is a service that offers free tax preparation from mid-January through mid-April to qualifying individuals and households with incomes less than $60,000. VITA is also available for persons with disabilities and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance preparing their tax returns.
  • UConn Law School Tax Clinic: This free legal clinic provides help to low-income taxpayers with tax problems. It also works with attorneys in Connecticut who volunteer to help low-income taxpayers.
