November 15, 2023

This week is "National Apprenticeship Week" which is a good time to highlight Connecticut's Apprenticeship Training Program and the great careers that await as you learn while you earn!

Through the state's Apprentice program you can master a trade through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction.

Thousands of workers and companies across Connecticut have already benefited from a customized apprenticeship training program. These programs increase workforce recruitment and proficiency, help employers transfer occupational skills to a new generation of workers, and ensure succession planning.

There are hundreds of opportunities in a wide variety of fields, including healthcare, manufacturing, automotive, plumbing, electrical, culinary arts and many more.
When participants complete their program, the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship Training provides an industry recognized, portable credential that:

Certifies completion of the program
Distinguishes the apprentice as a master of their craft
Makes the apprentice eligible to take any occupational licensing exams
Depending upon the specific trade, apprenticeship programs can run from 1-4 years.
