Grand Opening of New Affordable Housing Units

September 5, 2024
We are seeing an incredible transformation in progress in the 75th district with new affordable housing units! On Tuesday, Governor Ned Lamont, Housing Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno, Waterbury Mayor Paul Pernerewski, and many others joined me in celebrating the opening of Linden Place Apartments on Linden Street. The new development features 44 brand-new units in two apartment buildings with affordable and market rate housing in the Hillside neighborhood.
These new buildings help tackle the housing shortage in Waterbury by offering affordable, modern apartments. They are designed to be both stylish and budget-friendly, giving more people access to comfortable living spaces. By using up-to-date building methods and smart designs, these units aim to improve quality of life while keeping costs down. Overall, they are a big step toward solving the problem of finding affordable housing in the area.
These new units, which are still on the market, have revitalized yet another local neighborhood. Crews knocked down a blighted building, a vacant parking lot, and an abandoned home to make way for this development. This follows a growing trend of transforming neighborhoods as two other affordable housing projects, including one on Abbott Terrace and another on Adam Street, are also going to make a difference.
The 75th district is taking advantage of much-needed opportunities to revitalize neighborhoods with new, affordable housing. We will continue to be the epicenter for this movement with more blighted areas in the process of new development.
