State Representative Laurie Sweet Sworn in on Wednesday for First Term

- Democratic State Representative Laurie Sweet was sworn in on Wednesday for her first term. She will represent the 91st district, covering Hamden.

 

“I am honored to serve the people of the 91st district,” said State Rep. Sweet.

 

The swearing-in ceremony occurred in the House Chamber on Opening Day of the 2025 Legislative Session.

 

Rep. Sweet will serve on the Environment, Higher Education and Housing committees.

Rep. Sweet holds a doctorate degree in Greek and Roman Art from the Ohio State University and worked as adjunct professor at Ithaca College before moving to Connecticut in 2011. She then trained and became a birth doula for 7 years. Rep. Sweet was elected to the Hamden Legislative Council in 2021 and was re-elected in 2023 as chair of the education committee and vice chair of the sustainability committee.
