March 18, 2025

On St. Patrick’s Day, Mayor Paul Pernerewski, the Office of Congresswoman Jahana Hayes and the Waterbury State Delegation celebrated Nicole Kendall as the honorary Irish Mayor for the Day in the City of Waterbury.

It was a pleasure to recognize her dedication to the Irish-American community and her service to our city. A lifelong resident, Nicole graduated from St. Joseph’s Elementary, Sacred Heart High School, and Southern Connecticut State University.

Nicole is the widow of Bruce Kendall and the proud mother of Daniel, Kaitlyn, and Brendan. She works at the Office of Adult Probation in Waterbury and has had a successful career in the judicial system.

As president of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH), Nicole has led with passion and commitment, earning the title of Hibernian of the Year in 2017. Her family shares a deep-rooted connection to Irish heritage, with multiple relatives actively involved in LAOH.

Elected president in 2020, she navigated “The COVID Years” by organizing virtual meetings and fundraisers, ensuring the organization remained strong. She is also a dedicated member of the Angels of Harmony choir and the AOH/LAOH Entertainment Committee.

Beyond LAOH, Nicole has served on parent teacher associations for more than 20 years, the Governance Council at local schools, and the Silas Bronson Library Board. She was honored with Waterbury’s Parent Leadership Award in 2019 and actively contributes to city events and committees.

Nicole’s selection as Irish Mayor for the Day is a testament to her leadership, service, and commitment to Waterbury and Irish culture.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Saint Patrick’s Day.
