Walk With Me to Raise Prostate Cancer Awareness
April is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support those affected, and advocate for better access to care. I have made it my mission to support this cause and promote men's health since my diagnosis. Early detection saves lives, and it starts with regular doctor visits and essential screenings.
I invite you to walk with me in Waterbury to show your support for those battling prostate cancer, honor survivors, and spread the word about the importance of early detection.
Where: The new Riverwalk at the end of South Main Street. Please park in the lot next to the walking trail.
When: Sundays at 8:30 a.m. – We'll gather for a brief discussion and start walking at 9 a.m.
Let's step forward in support for men's health. I look forward to seeing you there!
Former UK Prime Minister Visits Capitol
We welcomed former United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May to the Capitol as she works to strengthen economic ties and relations between the UK and Connecticut. Her visit highlights the importance of global partnerships in driving innovation, trade, and economic growth.
Waterbury's own Senator Joan Hartley moderated the discussion.
May is also serving as the inaugural fellow at Yale University's Blue Center for Global Strategic Assessment for the 2025 spring semester. She is participating in critical discussions on global policy and strategy. Her presence is a unique opportunity to foster collaboration and exchange ideas that benefit both our state and the UK.
Mayor Paul Pernerewski greets former UK Prime Minister Theresa May.
I am grateful for May's visit and would like to thank Senator Joan Hartley for moderating the conversation in front of the UK-CT Friendship Caucus!

Bryan Hurlburt, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Agriculture
Agriculture may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Waterbury, but our local farms and food producers play a crucial role in keeping our community strong. From providing fresh, healthy food to supporting jobs and preserving green spaces, agriculture remains a vital part of our area's economy and well-being.
The state celebrated Ag Day at the Capitol to support the farmers and growers who help nourish Waterbury and beyond. This $4 billion industry employs tens of thousands of residents and plays a vital role in Connecticut's past, present, and future. Please support local produce and thank a farmer!
