Grant for Tarrywile Park
Great news for Danbury! Tarrywile Park will receive $63,026 in state funding to construct a community garden.
Tarrywile Park is one of the state’s largest municipally owned parks, totaling 722 acres. The park features 21 miles of multiuse trails, several picnic areas, and waterbodies.
New amenities will include additional seating, a public art installation, fencing, bioswales, and rain barrels that will provide water for the new gardens.
Last week we proudly honored Coach Joe Mingachos with the naming of a soccer field at Lake Kenosia Park, a place that feels like home to him as both a player and a beloved coach.
This special tribute was made possible thanks to the vision and hard work of Ronald Philip, a prospective Eagle Scout who led this project and dedicated countless hours to making it a reality. Congratulations to Coach Mingachos on this well-deserved honor, and thank you for your lasting impact on our community.
Big thanks as well to Mike Diker, Steve Lopes, Danbury Youth Soccer Club, and everyone who helped bring this to life. Proud to support them!
BBQ and the American Dream in Danbury
Rafael Marin is a true example of the American Dream in action. Every summer, he hosts a traditional Brazilian BBQ, celebrating the rich customs of southern Brazil where he was born. This year marked the 22nd annual gathering a wonderful tribute to his hardworking team at EP Construction and the community he’s built around them.
Rafael recently published a book sharing his family’s incredible journey from Italy to southern Brazil, and ultimately his own path to success here in America.
Grateful to Rafael for the invitation to be part of such a special day. Wishing him continued success in all he does! And I want his VW Beetle too. Reminds me of the same one that my Grandpa owned when I was a child.
National Night Out
The Danbury Police Department is hosting National Night Out, on Aug. 5 from 5 to 9 p.m., and will feature games, giveaways, music and more.
