Bill Sayers, a member of the Windham Town Council and chairman of the Windham Democratic Party, recently joined my co-host Dennis O'Brien on "Let's Talk About It." In addition to his leadership roles, Sayers also hosts his own radio program, "On the Air with Bill Sayers," where he covers local politics and events on WILI 1400 AM and 95.3 FM.
During the conversation, O'Brien and Sayers shared important details, which you will find below, about a large-scale police training exercise scheduled for Saturday, August 16. The Willimantic Police Department will conduct the drill in collaboration with other local police departments to be better prepared for mass emergencies. Residents may notice increase police activity including helicopters, simulated gunfire, and ambulances, but there is no danger to the public.
Sayers also praised the town's exceptional water and sewer departments, previewed the upcoming elections on November 4, highlighted some changes to polling locations, and discussed the struggle to recruit volunteers to serve the community. Please click the video below to listen to the full interview and stay informed on what's happening in our community!

Celebrating 60 Years of Medicaid
Last month, our country celebrated 60 years of Medicaid, which has transformed health care for millions of children, adults, and families. Medicaid is a lifeline for almost one-third of Connecticut residents. The program provides access to essential health services to our most vulnerable communities. Let's celebrate this milestone and do what we can to support Medicaid services while they are under attack.
To honor 60 years of Medicaid, Connecticut Children's Medical Center created a list of 60 ways Medicaid continues to promote health, dignity, and opportunity for everyone. CLICK HERE to read more.
