Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

September 19, 2025

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and I'm dedicating this time to educate men about the importance of monitoring their health. Please read below to learn what this means in practice.

Some of the brightest minds gathered at an important manufacturing expo to show off new technology and boost networking opportunities. I'll break down why this field is critical to Connecticut's economy.

Good news for anyone who wants a COVID-19 booster. The governor is protecting access to those shots. I'll dig into the details below.

You will find the following sections below:

  • Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
  • Connecticut Manufacturing Expo
  • Protecting Covid-19 Vaccine Access

Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to stand strong, speak up, and shine a light on a battle too many men face in silence. This cause is deeply personal to me since I am living with prostate cancer.

This month, we honor the warriors fighting for survival, the survivors who inspire us, and the families who stand beside them through every test, treatment, and tear. But awareness must lead to action. Men, we need to take our health seriously! That means:

  • Scheduling regular check-ups
  • Talking openly with doctors and loved ones
  • Getting tested
  • Listening to your body – don't ignore the warning signs and put off care!!

Far too often, men wait until it's too late. Early detection saves lives, and the simplest step of getting screened can make all the difference.

By raising our voices together, we can break the stigma around men's health, ensure no one faces this disease alone, and build a future where more battles are won.

Connecticut Manufacturing Expo

It was an honor to attend the Connecticut Manufacturing Expo and see innovative technology on full display. As co-chair of the Manufacturing Caucus, with 36 years in the industry, I remain deeply committed to advancing this critical sector of our state's economy.

The forum provided an important opportunity to discuss strategies for the future of Connecticut manufacturing, with a strong focus on talent development, technology adoption, and financial growth.

Manufacturing is the key to creating more good-paying jobs and strengthening our state economy. It offers a solid foundation to build meaningful careers without having to move to another state. The manufacturing sector is full of potential thanks to training programs, apprenticeships, and high-tech innovation.

Protecting Covid-19 Vaccine Access

Governor Ned Lamont issued executive orders to ensure that Connecticut residents have access to COVID-19 vaccines during the upcoming respiratory virus season.

These actions ensure that residents who wish to be vaccinated continue to have access to vaccines and that coverage remains uninterrupted under state-regulated health insurance policies.

The executive orders will:

  • Permit pharmacists to order, prescribe, and administer the vaccine.
  • Establish statewide guidelines for who is eligible to receive the vaccine. Adults of all ages can receive COVID-19 vaccinations at pharmacies and medical practices, while children between six months and 18 years of age can receive vaccinations through pediatric providers participating in the Connecticut Vaccine Program.

These steps make sure Connecticut residents can stay protected.
