International Holocaust Remembrance Day

January 27, 2026

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, a time to honor the millions of lives lost under unimaginable cruelty during World War II. More than eight decades after the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, this day remains a powerful reminder of the dangers of antisemitism, hatred, and genocide and our shared responsibility to stand against them.

My thoughts are with my friends and neighbors in the Waterbury Yeshiva community and with all those who carry this solemn history in their hearts. We also honor the extraordinary courage and tenacity of the survivors who rebuilt their lives, preserved their traditions, and ensured that future generations would remember.

The Yeshiva community continues to reflect the enduring strength of faith, culture, and learning in the face of unimaginable adversity. May today strengthen our commitment to compassion, understanding, and justice, and remind us to never allow such atrocities to happen again.
