My Community Conversations Ahead of the 2026 Session

February 3, 2026

Dear Neighbor,

Over the last month, I have spent time meeting with Bethel and Danbury residents, families, organizations, community leaders, and many more members of our community ahead of the 2026 Legislative Session. These conversations were an opportunity to listen to those in the 2nd District about what their priorities and concerns are as we head into another legislative session.

I have heard a wide range of issues that residents are concerned about on the local, state, and federal levels.

At the beginning of the month, I sat down with educators in Danbury to discuss the current needs within the school district. We talked about special education needs, school funding, student mental health resources, and more issues that are impacting their classrooms every day. Over the last few sessions, we have worked to bring additional funding to our schools and improve resources. Conversations like these with our educators are crucial to understand how we can better support our schools and students.

Over the last few months, I held Community Coffee Hours at the Bethel Library and Molten Java and a Pre-Session Danbury Town Hall. During these events, we heard from many residents about their concerns surrounding energy rates and education here in Connecticut. Many residents also asked important questions about federal funding cuts and what it means for our local communities and the state. These events were also a chance to hear from residents about their ideas and what could be done at the state level to address local issues.

I have also spent time meeting with other local leaders from the Bethel Chamber of Commerce and the Western Connecticut Council of Governments. These groups help support our community, local organizations, and businesses, and allow for collaboration between leaders. During the Bethel Chamber of Commerce Breakfast, we discussed topics from our local volunteer firefighters to how we can better support and attract businesses in our community. At the Western Connecticut Council of Governments Legislative Reception, I met with leaders from municipalities across western Connecticut. This was a great opportunity to discuss regional concerns, including transportation issues such as the Danbury Line and I-84. I am grateful for the chance to work alongside town and local leaders to best meet our community's needs.

These conversations are crucial in the work we do. Thank you to all the Bethel and Danbury residents with whom I had the opportunity to meet with this past month, and for staying engaged in our community and the legislative process.

I am looking forward to the 2026 Legislative Session and will continue to advocate for Bethel and Danbury residents.

Sincerely,

Raghib Allie-Brennan
State Representative
