Updates from State Rep. Farley Santos for Feb. 6, 2026

February 6, 2026

Danbury’s House delegation kicked off the first day of session by welcoming our city’s biggest advocate, Mayor Roberto Alves.

We proudly congratulated the Mayor on his successful battle with cancer. Together, we’ll keep delivering real results for Danbury at the record pace we’ve set in recent years.

Extending the Federal Cuts Response Fund

The first priority of the new session was to take up a Senate bill that extends the Federal Cuts Response Fund to continue through the end of Fiscal Year 2027.

This will enable the state government to quickly respond to any cuts made by the federal government to funding of vital programs in Connecticut.

The bill passed with the required three-fifths majority, including my vote, for such measures.

WTIC Interview

I was interviewed on Tuesday ahead of the session on priorities we expect to tackle. Please take some time to read this article, which excerpts the interview.

Legislative Breakfast

Great start to the morning at the State Naugatuck Valley legislative breakfast focused on student success and economic development. For me, the priority remains Danbury and the state. With enrollment up 7%, 300+ academic programs, and 150 workforce pathways, the progress toward a stand-alone state Danbury college is real.

Strong partnerships with public schools and local businesses are building a skilled workforce and creating opportunity for everyone!

High School Visits

It's always great to be back at my alma mater, even if only for a quick stop to cheer on the Abbott Tech boys basketball team before heading back to work for the City Council meeting.

Go Wolverines!

I also stopped by Danbury High School West on Tuesday with Mayor Alves to recognize our incredible Career and Technical Education professionals. They are giving our students real-world skills and preparing them for lifelong success. Grateful for all educators do for our kids and our community.

TopFlyte Opens

It was great to attend the grand opening of TopFlyte Bungee. I’ve known the owner Kely through our church and her daughter was once one of my confirmation students.

While this business is not located in my district, I am always happy to support the success of a Danbury resident. Seeing a local family turn a vision into a thriving, high energy fitness space is something to celebrate.

Congratulations to Kely and her team. Visit TopFlyte Bungee at 355 Federal Road, Del Mar Street, Brookfield and check it out.

Black History Month Flag Raising

Join us and the Danbury NAACP for a flag raising in commemoration of Black History Month on Feb. 7.

As always, if you have any comments, questions or concerns, please reach out to my office.

Sincerely,

Farley Santos
