Today we recognize the retirement of Chief Richard Thode after more than four decades of service to our communities. I’ve known Chief Thode not just as a leader of the Danbury Fire Department, but as a father. I grew up alongside his kids in Bethel, and I’ve had the privilege of seeing him both in uniform and at home. That’s what makes his career even more meaningful. The same dedication, steadiness, and care he brought to protecting our community is exactly what he brought to raising his family. Danbury was lucky to have his experience, leadership, and calm presence at the helm. And those of us who know him beyond the title know that who he is off-duty is just as admirable. We also owe a thank you to his family, who shared him with our community for so many years. Wishing Chief Thode a well-earned retirement and a lot more time enjoying his growing family. Thank you for everything, Chief. |
