Updates from State Rep. Farley Santos for April 3, 2026
April 3, 2026
As you know, I’ve made it my mission to deliver more money to Danbury since taking office in 2023 — and I’ve delivered on that promise.
That’s why I support SB 511, which just passed out of the Finance Committee with bipartisan support — because it creates more opportunities for money to come back to our city.
SB 511 — Municipal Growth Dividend
This bill is about rewarding cities and towns that grow their economies.
In simple terms: when a municipality generates new revenue through economic growth, the state shares a portion of that growth back with the city as a “dividend.”
💡 What that means:
➡️ More incentive to attract businesses
➡️ More support for local development
➡️ More resources for cities like Danbury without raising taxes.
It’s simple: when Danbury grows, Danbury should benefit.
WestConn's New President
It was moving to witness the investiture of Western Connecticut State University’s new president, Dr. Jesse Bernal, a moment filled with renewed hope, energy, and momentum for a university on the rise.
This wasn’t just a ceremony, it was about the future.
When we invest in our students, we strengthen our workforce, grow our economy, and build a stronger Danbury.
That’s why the partnership between WCSU and our city matters now more than ever.
Leaders from all over Connecticut, including
Governor Ned Lamont, came together to mark this important day.
Congratulations, Dr. Bernal—excited for what’s ahead.
Vietnam Remembrance Ceremony
Grateful to join the Vietnam Remembrance Ceremony at the Danbury War Memorial My former teacher at Henry Abbott Tech, Andy Ipkovich, himself a Navy Veteran, spoke beautifully on the sacrifices rendered by Vietnam Veterans. We remember. Always.
Let’s Talk: SB 2 - An Act Supporting Local Commerce
Big move this week, with SB2 clearing the Finance Committee with bipartisan support and is headed to the Senate next. Now we push to get it called in the House.
Here’s what it means for Danbury:
$1.2 MILLION back into our city
Not a new tax, just bringing even more of OUR money home
This is real relief for local budgets and a smart way to reinvest in our community without asking more from taxpayers.
I’m all in on getting this across the finish line though I’m not sure we will in a short session. Doesn’t mean I’ll stop trying!
The sprint continues, with House convening two sessions next week.
Supporting Troop 9
Stopped in to support Troop 9 at St. Greg’s this morning. Always good connecting with constituents and hearing what’s on their minds.
Danbury's Portugal Flavor
Friends. Fellowship. Fraternity. Food. That’s what community looks like. Great to be with everyone in support of the Associação Social e Cultural do Vale de Dão in Ferreiros do Dão.
No Kings
“In America the law is king… there ought to be no other.”— Thomas Paine
“A government of laws, and not of men.”— President John Adams
“A republic… if you can keep it.”— Benjamin Franklin
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”— President Ronald Reagan
“The right to protest is fundamental.”— Justice Antonin Scalia
The founders warned us.
Presidents re-asserted it.
The Constitution backs it up.
The question is, are we listening?
Celebrating Greek Independence
City Hall shining a little brighter in blue and white.
Pride. Tradition. Community.
Happy celebration of Greek independence!
But nothing hits quite like hearing the kids recite poems in Greek. Pure, powerful, and proof that this culture is alive and thriving right here at home. How blessed we are to live in nation that affords us the ability to raise the flag of another country to show our respect for culture and diversity!
Night 2 of 'Mary Poppins Jr.'
Night 2 of "Mary Poppins Jr." by Westside Middle School Academy Musical Theatre.
Proud of my little girl. Packed house to support our kids and it was great to see so many friends.
