Free Summer Meals for Kids

July 15, 2026

During these summer months away from school, nutritious meals are available at no cost to all children in the state.

As part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Summer Food Service Program, any child 18 and under may receive meals at participating locations - no application, proof of income, or identification required.

You can use the U.S. DAG's Summer Meals Site Finder or call 2-1-1 to find participating meal sites throughout the state. This will give you information on the exact location and days & times meals are being served, as well as the sponsoring organization.  Sites and operating hours can change, so families should confirm location and meal service times.

For example, summer meals are being served locally in Hartford here and at many other locations:

The program is a summer extension of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Meal sites are operated by schools, municipalities, camps, colleges, and various nonprofit organizations throughout the state.

A healthy meal is critical to a child's physical and mental development. House Democrats encourage you and your family to take advantage of this great opportunity.
