Never forget the Sandy Hook tragedy

December 14, 2019 marks the 7-year anniversary since a gunman entered Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and went on a killing spree. Remember the victims - 20 first-grade students, five school staff members and administrators, and the gunman’s mother. The cowardly gunman killed himself as police closed in on the school.

December 14, 2012 is one of the saddest days in Connecticut history and there are several events to remember the tragedy:

  • A Gathering of Hope Remembrance held December 14th at 9:00 am at Ridgefield Town Hall. Stand in solidarity to remember those lost.
  • Sandy Hook Vigil Dec. 14th at 5:00 pm at 22-13 Under Mountain Road Salisbury.
  • Mothers United Against Violence Candlelight Vigil Dec 14th, 6:00 pm at Hartford Behavioral Health, 2550 Main Street, Hartford.

The Newtown Foundation: The Newtown Foundation (TNF) is a not-for-profit, 501c3 organization formed in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook shootings to help ensure that Newtown is remembered as a place that fosters positive cultural change to end gun violence in America.

Newtown Action Alliance: Newtown Action Alliance is a national all-volunteer grassroots organization founded by Newtown residents after the tragic December 14, 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting where 20 children and six educators were senselessly gunned down. They are a group of advocates, families of victims and survivors of gun violence, who are working to transform our tragedy into meaningful action to end gun violence. They are dedicated to reversing the escalating gun violence epidemic in this nation through the introduction of smarter, safer gun laws and broader cultural change.
Membership is open to anyone who wants to help make this nation a safer place for our families and children.
