Dear Neighbor, Just before the Fourth of July, I had the great honor of awarding a citation to Anthony Longo, a World War II Navy Veteran, who celebrated his 103rd birthday on May 15. Mr. Longo’s life has been a testament to resilience, wisdom, and grace. As the citation reads:
“We honor this amazing year through all the memories, milestones, and legacy you continue to build. Here is to a remarkable journey and the inspiration you provide to all.”
Happy 103rd birthday, Mr. Longo, and thank you for your service and the incredible example you set for us all. |

| I had a fantastic time at the recent grand opening of SoLA Karaoke at Factory Square in Southington! This exciting, new business, owned by Dipo and Allison Oseni, offers private karaoke suites and party options in the heart of downtown Southington. If you love singing your heart out with friends or want a fun spot for your next celebration, I highly recommend checking out SoLA Karaoke. Thanks to the Chamber of Commerce for hosting such a great event to welcome them! Wishing Dipo and Allison much success! |

| FTD Awareness and Community Action |
|
|
| Recently, I met with Esther Harvey as well as Lewis and Kathleen Schassler to learn about Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), which is a rare, incurable brain disorder affecting people under 60, causing changes in behavior, language, or movement while often preserving memory. The CT FTD Foundation is hoping to bring awareness of this disorder to our community during the week of September 21-October 5. More details to come. |

In the meantime, the advocates shared that the Southington Commission for Persons with Disabilities is seeking input through a short survey to help update the count of residents with disabilities in Southington, Plantsville, Milldale, and Marion. This information is vital for improving services and ensuring first responders can better assist individuals during emergencies.
The survey contains just four questions and can be completed online at THIS LINK.
Residents are encouraged to complete the survey and share it with others to help strengthen support for the local disabled community. |
