| I’m thrilled to share that Southington will receive a $2 million award from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to rehabilitate the housing units at General Pulaski Terrace. These funds will go toward modernizing the property with much-needed upgrades, including new roofing, seamless aluminum gutters with leaf screens, heat pump replacements, and a monitored fire alarm system to enhance safety. |
This grant is part of $12.8 million awarded through the CDBG Small Cities program, ensuring our communities receive the resources they need. I’m proud to support investments that improve housing and quality of life for residents!

| This week, I had the pleasure of visiting Mrs. Chavez's and Mrs. Sullivan’s 5th grade classes at Oshana Elementary School to talk about my role as a State Representative and how our government works here in Connecticut. We had a great discussion about public service, the election process, and what a typical day looks like in Hartford. |
| I also shared some of the legislation I’ve worked on and how laws are made to help our communities. It was inspiring to see how engaged and curious the students were about government and civic responsibility! Who knows — maybe a future legislator was in the room! A huge thank you to Mrs. Chavez, Mrs. Sullivan, Principal Rogala and their incredible students for having me. I always enjoy these conversations and look forward to returning in the future! |

| State Emergency Operations Center |
| As a member of the Public Safety and Security Committee, I had the opportunity to tour the state’s Emergency Operations Center, located in the State Armory. This facility serves as the central hub for coordinating emergency responses — from fires and flooding to homeland security events and election day monitoring. |
| A huge thank you to Commissioner Ronnell Higgins, Deputy Commissioner Brenda Bergeron, and the dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. Their preparedness and coordination are critical in times of crisis. It was an eye-opening experience, and I’m grateful for the chance to see firsthand how they manage emergencies. Our state is in good hands with this team at the helm! |
| Earlier this week, I had the honor of presenting an official state citation to Patricia Pettit, Southington High School’s 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year. I was joined by Superintendent Madancy, Assistant Superintendent Pepe, and Principal Aroian. |
| With over 20 years of dedication to Southington Public Schools, Mrs. Pettit has made a lasting impact on countless students, especially as a Teacher of Multilingual Learners (TESOL). Her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment is truly inspiring. Congratulations, Mrs. Pettit! Your passion and hard work deserve this well-earned recognition. Thank you for all you do for our students and community! |

| This week, joined by legislative colleagues, I had the privilege of attending LiveWell’s special film viewing of "Human Forever" — a documentary that explores the challenges of cognitive change while celebrating the compassion, resilience, and deep humanity of those living with dementia. The discussions that followed were just as impactful, with attendees sharing what it means to be dementia positive—focusing on strengths, honoring contributions, and embracing strategies for brain health. I’m proud to support the Dementia Friendly Southington initiative and welcome ongoing conversations to build a more compassionate, informed community. |

| Last Saturday, I was back at the Capitol with Southington educators for the annual Connecticut Education Association Legislative Breakfast. It was great to hear the priorities of Connecticut teachers, catch up with Southington residents, and share an update on the current legislative session. |
| Despite the snow last Sunday, we had an excellent turnout for the kickoff of my 2025 Legislative Session Listening Tour. Thank you to Lions Den Coffee Shop for hosting and to the Southington residents who came out with questions, concerns, and suggestions. |
| If you missed me at the Lion’s Den last my next tour stop will be tomorrow, Feb. 15, at the Southington Coffee House. I hope to see you there. |
| If your organization would like to schedule a stop on my Listening Tour, please reply to this email so we can work to schedule a date. |
