Dear Neighbor,

It was awesome to attend the Southington Public Library’s Take Your Child to the Library Day event on Saturday with Connecticut's Kid Governor, Cristiano Almeida of Southington, and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz. Special thanks to the Southington Public Library staff for highlighting the incredible impact libraries have in our town and in communities across our state.

Above, CT's Kid Governor, speaks at the event while Lt. Governor Bysiewicz, State Rep. Francis Rexford Cooley and I watch him.

Upcoming Coffee Hour

Stop by the Southington Coffee House to chat with me and my good friend from across the aisle this Sunday from 8:30-10:30 a.m. for the first of a series of Legislative Q&As that I will be hosting at local businesses during the month of February.

We hope to see and talk with you on Sunday.

Constitution Contest

Last week, I served as a judge for the American Legion’s oratorical contest on the U.S. Constitution. I was impressed by our high school students’ knowledge and their appreciation of our Country’s foundation of government. Congratulations to the Southington High School students who competed. All of you did a great job!

Legislative Priorities and Staying Connected During 2024 Session

The 2024 Legislative Session starts on Wednesday, but I have been meeting with local leaders, knocking on doors and visiting local businesses to check in, which helps me learn about their priorities on a variety of issues.

Those I have met with in Southington include our Police Chief, Police Union Leadership, Fire Chief, Fire Union Leadership, representatives from AARP, Town Manager, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission, Executive Director of the Early Childhood Collaborative and YMCA Early Learning Center staff. I have knocked on 500 doors and spoken with numerous business owners. I have also met with the Police Advisory Association of CT (POACT) to learn about their priorities for public safety.

I will continue to meet with residents, businesses, and community organizations during the session whether it's in Southington or at the State Capitol.

I am also committed to keeping you informed and engaged in the democratic process in every way I can.

The resources below will help you stay updated on crucial developments, events, proposed policies, and key discussions as they happen in Hartford. I urge you to please follow along and get involved.

Here's how you can stay connected and actively participate:
