Dear Neighbor,
Earlier this month, the Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA was notified that the U.S. Senate passed a bill for 2024 that included $520,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending for improvements at YMCA Camp Sloper.
YMCA Camp Sloper is a source of community pride for Southington, so whenever I can help by securing funding at the state level or by connecting CEO Mark Pooler and his staff to federal funding opportunities, I am committed to collaborating with the YMCA because the organization and its programing strengthen the foundation of our community.
The YMCA intends to use these federally earmarked funds as part of the on-going capital campaign for improvements at YMCA Camp Sloper, specifically to build a new Camp Office and Infirmary.
This $520,000 federal award adds to the $500,000 in state funding that I helped secure in last year's state budget, which was used to complete the Sloper Pond dreading project. I remain committed and am proud to deliver for Southington and the organizations that define our town. |
