Dear Neighbor,

This week's Legislative Session Listening Tour stop with Southington teachers offered an insightful and productive conversation. I truly appreciate everyone who took the time to share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas about the challenges and opportunities facing our schools, teachers, and students.

A special thank you to the Southington Education Association for hosting this event and to Southington Community Cultural Arts for providing the space. If you couldn’t attend but have thoughts to share, feel free to reach out.

Please continue reading below for other noteworthy items, and thanks as always for taking the time to read them!

Crystal Clear Choice!

A huge congratulations to Nick Martino on being named the Riccio Brothers Businessperson of the Year at last night’s Southington Chamber of Commerce event! His dedication to the community and leadership at Crystal Restoration have made a lasting impact, and this recognition is well deserved.

In addition to this incredible honor from the business community, I was proud to join my colleagues from Southington’s legislative delegation in presenting an official state citation recognizing Nick’s achievements — an amazing testament to his hard work, generosity, and influence in Southington.

Nick is not only an exceptional business leader but also a humble and inspiring person. It’s clear that his family, friends, employees, and the entire community deeply appreciate all he does. Congratulations again on this well-earned recognition!

Listening Tour Continues

Spring Lake Village
The next stop on my Legislative Session Listening Tour will be with residents of Spring Lake Village at the Tanasi Social Hall. If you are a member of the SLV community, please join me on April 2 at 1 p.m. for coffee and cake to learn about legislation impacting Southington's residents. At the session, I will provide an overview of major legislative issues and answer questions about the ones that are most important to you.

Annual Veterans Coffee Hour
Join me on April 11 at 9:30 a.m. for my Annual Veterans Coffee Hour & Resource Discussion at the Southington Calendar House Senior Center. This stop on the Listening Tour is a great opportunity for local Veterans and their families to come together, ask questions, and learn about valuable resources and programs available to them. Veterans Affairs Commissioner Ronald P. Welch will be our guest speaker, and there will also be a special tribute to Colonel Richard Anderson, with his family in attendance. We look forward to seeing you there to honor and support our Veterans!

Upcoming Tour Stops (more details to follow):
4/9 at 7 p.m. – Lions Club (Manor Inn) – for members
4/15 at 6 p.m. – Southington Public Library (Community Room) – open to the public

If your organization would like to host a stop on my 2025 Listening Tour, please reply to this email to arrange a date.

Greek Independence Day at the Capitol

This week I joined with my fellow Greek Americans in the north lobby of the Capitol to commemorate the 204th anniversary of the Greek Revolution and the founding of the Hellenic Republic. On Greek Independence Day, not only do we celebrate the freedom of Greece, but also all that Greece has offered to the United States. Greece’s contributions to American democracy are readily apparent in our government and were regularly cited by our founding fathers as inspirations. At the ceremony, I was proud to join my legislative colleagues in celebrating Greece’s Independence and all the gifts it has brought, Ζήτω η Ελλάδα!
