Dear Neighbor,

This week I attended a press conference hosted jointly by the American School for the Deaf (ASD) and Hartford HealthCare (HHC) to announce their new partnership to provide American Sign Language interpreting services for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing patients across HHC's health care system.

During the 2024 legislative session, I was proud to lead the bipartisan legislation that established a Bureau for the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing aimed at centralizing resources for Connecticut’s Deaf Community. The partnership between ASD and HHC is one of the important implementation steps for this legislation, which will ensure equitable access to care for patients with hearing loss. I look forward to continued advocacy alongside Southington resident and President of the Connecticut Association of the Deaf, Luisa Soboleski, as we take the next steps to further implement this important legislation.

Please continue reading below for other noteworthy items, and thanks as always for taking the time to read them!

Veterans Day

On Monday, I had the great honor of attending a Veteran’s Day Breakfast at the Summit followed by the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72’s annual ceremony on the Town Green.

I enjoyed speaking with Southington Veterans, thanking them for their support, and hearing them share their stories of service. Thank you, again, to all Veterans for your service and example, especially my Dad, retired Army LTC Chris Poulos, Sr., who served 27 years.

Family Caregiver Resources

November is National Family Caregivers Month. It is a time to honor and support the caregivers who give so much to our families and communities. I'm sharing the links below to help lighten the load, from mental health support to financial assistance programs.

Let’s ensure our caregivers get the care they need, too!
