Rep. Reyes Promoted In House Leadership and BPRC

House Majority Leader Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) announced his appointment of Representative Geraldo Reyes Jr. (D-Waterbury) as Deputy Majority Leader.

“I am thrilled that Gerry has accepted the position as my Deputy Majority Leader,” said Ritter. “Gerry will be asset to my team, particularly when it comes to keeping caucus members informed and making sure the House floor operations run smoothly.”

As Deputy Majority Leader, Rep. Reyes will work closely with the Speaker of the House and Majority Leader to rally support to pass critical legislation.

Rep Reyes said, “I want to personally thank Majority Leader Matt Ritter for entrusting me with such an important assignment and I look forward to working with everyone in the House Chamber.”

According to state statute, Deputy Majority Leader is responsible for aiding the Majority Leader with the review and development of policy, the analysis of critical legislation, and with the agenda of the majority party.

In addition, Rep. Reyes has been asked to serve as Vice-Chair of the 2019 Connecticut Legislative Black & Puerto Rican Caucus (BPRC). Rep. Brandon McGee of Hartford will serve as BPRC Chair.

The Connecticut Legislative Black and Puerto Rican Caucus was formed in 1976 to promote and assist minorities in becoming more actively involved in the political process; and in attaining political office; and to raise the economic potential for minorities and empowerment of the minority community in the state.
