Celebrating Puerto Rico in Waterbury |
This past weekend, I was honored to join our community in celebrating a Puerto Rico flag raising, parade, and festival in Waterbury. As a proud Puerto Rican, it filled me with joy to see our culture and heritage on full display, with families, friends, and neighbors coming together to celebrate our traditions, music, food, and history. The energy and pride radiating from the crowd reminded me just how special and resilient our community truly is. |
The return of the parade to Waterbury was especially meaningful. Watching the streets come alive with flags waving high, colorful performances, and the sound of music and laughter was a powerful reminder of the importance of keeping our traditions alive for future generations. It was a day to recognize not only our heritage but also the strength of the Puerto Rican community here in Waterbury and across Connecticut. |
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this possible—from organizers and volunteers to the families who showed up to celebrate. Your hard work and dedication brought the parade and festival back to Waterbury, and in doing so, gave our community a reason to come together in pride and unity. I look forward to seeing this tradition continue to grow in the years ahead. |

Governor Ned Lamont has officially launched Fire Safe CT, a new statewide initiative aimed at reducing fire-related tragedies through public education and community support.
This coordinated effort brings state and local agencies, fire service professionals, and health care experts together to protect Connecticut from the dangers of fire. |
Core objectives include:
- Public Education: delivering clear, actionable fire prevention tips through multimedia campaigns—highlighting home safety, outdoor fire management, and burn injury prevention.
- Community Empowerment: providing local fire departments and municipal fire marshals with enhanced tools, educational materials, and support to boost community-level fire risk reduction efforts.
