My colleagues and I gathered at the State Capitol to celebrate Romania's National Day and mark the 20th anniversary of Romania's NATO membership. This event was a vibrant celebration of Romania’s rich cultural heritage and a testament to the enduring friendship and cooperation between our nations. It highlighted the strong commitment of the Romanian American community to peace, security, and mutual support here in Connecticut.
The event featured compelling speakers who underscored the significance of Romania as a strategic NATO ally. Both Romania and the United States share a deep commitment to freedom, democracy, and the pursuit of peace. As NATO partners, we stand united in addressing global challenges, ensuring the security of our citizens, and upholding the principles that define our democracies. Over the past two decades, Romania’s steadfast contributions to NATO have been nothing short of inspiring, embodying the true spirit of partnership and collaboration.
Unity between the U.S. and Romania.
It was a privilege to discuss the recent visit of Romanian military leaders to Connecticut, where both sides explored new avenues for military cooperation with the Connecticut National Guard.
We also celebrated the strong ties between Connecticut’s defense sector and Romania, notably exemplified by the remarkable $7.2 billion acquisition of F-35s, with engines manufactured by Pratt & Whitney.
I would also like to thank Dana Bucin, the Honorary Consul of Romania to Connecticut, for all her work in making this event happen. Her leadership has been instrumental in forging new bonds between our state and Romania. We look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership.
Our newfound connections serve as a powerful reaffirmation of the bonds between Romania and the United States, showcasing the strategic partnership and shared values that make us stronger together. As we look ahead, let us embrace a future where our friendship and mutual commitment continue to inspire and unite us.
