Electoral College Vote

December 20, 2024
I was honored to play a role in the certification of Connecticut’s seven electoral votes in the presidential election. On Tuesday, we followed through in the democratic process of the electoral college in the State Senate.
Electoral College members are required by law to vote for the candidates who won the state’s popular vote in the General Election. With 57.4% of the vote, the Kamala Harris/Tim Walz ticket won our seven electoral votes. Connecticut Democrats selected me and six others to serve as Electoral College members at our statewide party convention earlier this year.
The ballots, collected and sealed with wax, will be delivered to Congress where they, along with ballots from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, will be officially counted during a joint session of the U.S. House and Senate on January 6, 2025.

I am grateful for participating in this ceremony and would like to thank Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas and everyone else involved. This is an amazing responsibility, and I'm thrilled to have experienced democracy in action.
