Largest Multi-Cultural Festival in New England

October 4, 2024
The 9th annual Gathering in downtown Waterbury was a huge success full of entertainment for the entire community. The largest multi-cultural festival in New England featured 110 countries that marched, danced, played music, or cooked up some delicious meals in our city last Saturday. Organizers estimate that we hit a new attendance record as more than 15,000 people took part and enjoyed the festivities.
The Gathering is designed to unite the diverse array of cultures, traditions, and ethnicities that make up the melting pot of Waterbury. It serves as a celebration of the city's rich cultural heritage, bringing together individuals and families from every country represented in the community.
Through music, food, art, and cultural showcases, The Gathering fosters a sense of unity and pride, highlighting the contributions of each group while promoting cross-cultural understanding and respect. This event reflects Waterbury's commitment to inclusivity, celebrating the vibrant diversity that defines the city.
I would like to thank the City of Waterbury for supporting The Gathering for all these years. I must also recognize the founder of this event, Mr. John Murray. He had the vision to unite all these diverse groups and celebrate their traditions in one place, at one time. Your commitment to running a safe, festive, and impactful event has truly made a difference to the thousands who participate.
