The House and Senate approved a contract granting annual raises to thousands of state workers. The deal ensues fair pay for a broad range of maintenance, technical, and administrative staff that deliver critical services, and help government operate efficiently. CLICK HERE to learn more.
We also advanced legislation cracking down on federal customs agents in Connecticut. I'll explain how a new bill protects our immigrant communities.
I was honored to join Puerto Rican and Latino neighbors to celebrate our culture and history. Read below to learn how we're providing support and remembering our heroes.

| Protection From Federal Overreach |

My colleagues in the Judiciary Committee recently advanced legislation that would expand restrictions on where Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents can operate in Connecticut.
The bills would prohibit ICE from entering places of worship and hospitals, ensuring that our residents are not afraid to seek medical care or practice their faith. We do not need the federal government's heavy-handed enforcement tactics to keep our communities safe.
Attorney General William Tong has voiced his support for these measures, noting that immigrants and their families have a right to be protected from violence and intimidation. |

| Supporting Puerto Rican & Latino Communities |
| I had the honor of participating in the inaugural gala and informational forum hosted by the Puerto Rican & Latino Caucus. These events were a celebration of our culture and heritage, and a powerful reminder of the importance of coming together to uplift and support one another. |
| The gala serves as a fundraiser to support our communities in Connecticut and beyond. Proceeds will help fund scholarships, provide humanitarian aid, and support initiatives that strengthen families and expand opportunity. It was an evening rooted in pride, resilience, and a shared commitment to ensuring the next generation thrives. |
| The next day, members of the Puerto Rican & Latino Caucus outlined our legislative priorities before a crowd of about 400 people at the Legislative Office Building. Our caucus consists of 15 members, 13 of whom are Puerto Rican, reflecting our deep and growing presence in Connecticut. Representatives Minnie Gonzalez, Juan Candelaria, Aundré Bumgardner, and others engaged with attendees, answering thoughtful questions, and discussing the work ahead. |
| It was inspiring to witness strong community engagement and support. Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, and helped make both events such a success. |

| Honoring Roberto Clemente's Legacy |
| It was an honor to join the community in honoring and celebrating the enduring legacies of Roberto Clemente and his wife, Vera at Dunkin' Park in Hartford. While Roberto Clemente is remembered as a Hall of Fame baseball player, he and Vera were also devoted humanitarians whose compassion and selflessness touched countless lives. This gathering gave us an opportunity to reflect on their achievements and recommit ourselves to carrying forward their spirit of service. |
For many Puerto Ricans, Roberto Clemente remains a hero whose legacy continues to inspire pride, generosity, and resilience. His life reminds us that greatness is measured by how we uplift others.
I am grateful to the Connecticut Institute for Community Development-Puerto Rican Parade Committee (CICD) for organizing such a vibrant event for all generations. It was a beautiful tribute, and I look forward to returning next year. |
