CT OKs Funds For East Hartford Fields

December 11, 2018

Rep. Jason Rojas joined his colleagues who represent East Hartford in the General Assembly to announce that the State Bond Commission today approved funding for upgrades to various athletic fields in East Hartford.

“This allocation is a great opportunity to reinvest in on our athletic fields, which are a major component of the overall student experience in East Hartford Public Schools,” said Rojas, a member of the State Bond Commission and the House chairman of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee.

“I have fond memories of playing on the fields at both the high school and middle school, both as a participant in our midget football program and as an athlete at the high school. Renovating our fields results not only in aesthetic benefits, but also allows for safer playing conditions for our student athletes,” he said.

The commission approved:

  • $1 million grant-in-aid to the Town of East Hartford for improvements to the athletic fields at the East Hartford Middle School and East Hartford High School
  • $275,000 to replace hinges and seatbacks on failing 15 year old chair back seats in Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
