Rojas Statement On Lamont Budget Plan

February 20, 2019

Representative Jason Rojas, House chairman for the legislature’s Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, issued the following statement Wednesday after Gov. Ned Lamont unveiled his proposal for a two-year budget.

“I certainly appreciate Governor Lamont’s approach to putting together this budget. He certainly has given us a lot to consider. It’s a challenging budget, but it’s an honest budget and I take him at his word. I think we have a lot of opportunity to sit down and negotiate a final budget plan that’s in the best interests of Connecticut and especially the people I represent in East Hartford and Manchester. The governor’s budget level-funds municipal aid and increases Education Cost Sharing funding for both East Hartford and Manchester public schools, which is helpful to mitigating property tax increases.
