The Black & Puerto Rican Caucus works on Budget

March 31, 2017

The Black and Puerto Rican Caucus heard from many constituents across the state about what is important to them during a public forum at the State Capitol. Their concerns are at the center of the ongoing conversations we are having with our state leaders as the budget negotiations take place. We agree that equitable changes to the ECS formula are needed, youth violence prevention initiatives can’t disappear and that criminal justice reform, health care, protecting the safety net infrastructure and the budget deficit must all be part of the overall conversation. I am committed to continue my advocacy on behalf of my community and safeguarding the programs that our most vulnerable residents rely on.
