Representatives Hilda E. Santiago, Michael D. Quinn, Jack Fazzino, and Senator Jan Hochadel issued a statement after securing $9,273,749 in additional state funding for Meriden as part of the state budget approved by both the House and Senate over the weekend.
“The Meriden Democratic Legislative Delegation is pleased to announce that it has secured more than $9 million in additional funding for the City of Meriden, including critical support to help address current budget gaps facing Meriden Public Schools.
The overall bipartisan budget package allocates $190 million in direct support for Connecticut public schools and $100 million to help mitigate local tax increases.
Meriden received $7,755,320 in supplemental education aid and $1,518,429 in town aid for a total of $9,273,749 increase in state funding for the fiscal year 2027 budget adjustment.
The funding reflects the House strong commitment to prioritizing education and delivering essential assistance to municipalities facing fiscal challenges.
This investment will provide much-needed relief to Meriden Public Schools and help alleviate the city’s finances.
We are proud to have delivered on our commitment to bring equitable ECS funding to our local schools and to support programs that help students across the state succeed.”
