Session Days are busy days. But then again, so is every day!

They’re long. They’re intense. And they matter.

  • Reading bills
  • Working with colleagues & leadership
  • Refining legislation line by line
  • Connecting with business owners
  • Meeting with advocates, constituents, department & agency heads
  • Even getting stuck in the Governor’s Entrance vestibule (yes, that happened 😅)
  • Showing up for the causes that matter

Every conversation. Every vote. Every late night. All for one thing: delivering for Danbury.

Don’t slow down. Don’t back down. Get it done.

Let's Talk: Protected Areas

Let’s Talk: SB 91 — Protected Areas & Inspector General Authority

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Danbury High students who were advocating for SB 91 with CT Students for a Dream. We shared mutual experiences and stories, and I am thoroughly impressed by their advocacy.

This bill is about keeping people safe while accessing essential services and expands the authority of the Inspector General.

Here’s what it actually does:

  • Keeps schools, hospitals, churches, and public events safe from civil immigration enforcement activity;
  • Requires a judge’s warrant for action in those spaces;
  • Still allows law enforcement to act for real threats, violent crime, or emergencies;
  • Expands the Inspector General’s authority to investigate deadly force cases;
  • Applies to state and local buildings, not just private spaces.

What it does NOT do:

❌ Does NOT stop police from doing their jobs
❌ Does NOT protect criminals
❌ Does NOT interfere with real public safety situations

Bottom line:

You should be able to take your kid to school, go to church, or get medical care without fear. That’s not politics. That’s common sense.

Daily Bread Food Pantry Grant

The Daily Bread Food Pantry received a $100,000 grant to purchase healthy Connecticut Grown products from local farms for distribution to food-insecure populations.

The funds were part of $1.55 million that Gov. Ned Lamont distributed to 12 entities, including Daily Bread Food Pantry.

Who Wore It Better?

Early mornings. Late nights. Same grind.

But one day this past week … same suit too 😅

Jason and I showed up to work wearing the exact same suit, same colors — no coordination, just somehow completely in sync.

That’s what happens when you’re surrounded by people who are locked in on the mission.

All jokes aside, Jason is much more than the voice of the Mayor, he’s a dedicated, hard-working professional who shows up every single day. Grateful to work alongside people like that.

Free Tax Prep

This is the kind of impact that matters. Joined Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Mayor Roberto Alves, DRS Commissioner Mark Boughton, and The Community Action Agency of Western CT to highlight:
💰 FREE tax prep through VITA for those earning $69,000 or less.

Already over $258,000 in refunds secured for Danbury residents! That’s real money back where it belongs.

Growing up, my parents didn’t always know about programs like this and I know they would have benefitted from it. That’s why getting the word out matters.

With tax day approaching, don’t leave money on the table.

Daddy-Daughter Dinners in Danbury

Khloë and I started our daddy-daughter dates at diners and it’s become our thing.

Lucky for us, Danbury has the best, and Holiday Diner ranks right at the top. Great food, familiar faces, and always someone to catch up with. It’s one of those places where the whole community comes together, and we love that.

Simple moments, great conversations, and memories that stick.

Speaking of dinners with Khloe, last week's Daughter-Daddy dinner date was her call … and she knew what she wanted.

She’s all about the Arroz Chaufa de Mariscos (Peruvian-style fried rice with seafood) at Empire of the Incas, and I get it.

Right in the heart of downtown, this family owned spot brings bold Peruvian flavor that hits every time. David and his staff are great!

Nights like this > everything else.

Easter in Danbury

“He is risen!” ✝️

A message of hope. A promise of renewal. A reminder that light always overcomes darkness.

I hope everyone who celebrates, had a Happy Easter filled with faith, family, and fresh beginnings.

The Easter Festival was hopping last week at the Green (no pun intended 🐣). Sunshine, smiles, and a community showing up strong to enjoy the fun.

Danbury's Newest Eagle Scout

Congratulations to Lilliana Bussmann, the newest Eagle Scout from Troop 52! A moving ceremony was held at the King Street Church to celebrate this accomplishment.

A Moment of Faith and Growth

I had the opportunity to witness Danbury Police Officer Mike Pedersen’s baptism and confirmation at Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.

An important moment of faith, growth, and commitment.

Surrounded by those closest to him, grounded in faith. Congratulations, Mike. God bless!
