Updates from State Rep. Farley Santos for April 11, 2025

April 11, 2025

During our legislative session Wednesday, I proudly voted to confirm David Arconti, a strong leader, to the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA).

Mr. Arconti has been a champion for forward-thinking energy policy and will serve all Connecticut residents with integrity and vision, and will use common sense to guide decision-making that benefits everyone.

I also supported SB 1553, critical legislation that, among other things, exempts municipalities from certain spending caps. Without this exemption, Danbury would have lost more than $1 million in municipal aid this year — aid we would have lost simply because of having to open Danbury High School West.

Thanks to the tireless advocacy of Mayor Roberto Alves, we secured this exemption and protected our taxpayers from unnecessary burden. This is what collaboration and local leadership looks like!

Hands Off

For our veterans. For democracy. For justice. For the rule of law. For health care. For public schools. For immigrants. For families. For children. For everyone, Khloë and I stood up last weekend.

As our mayor said so powerfully: “That American flag is why I can stand here today. It's why we can speak out, protest, and do it peacefully.”

Proud to raise our voices. God bless America! We will continue to fight, not just against oppressors, but FOR our residents. It's what really makes the U.S. great.

Honoring Two True Heroes

I had the distinct honor of recognizing two true American heroes on April 6 — World War II veterans John Edmond and Andy Pirone. Mr. Pirone also served in the Korean War.

Meeting these men a few years ago was more than a privilege, it was a powerful reminder of the sacrifice, bravery, and resilience of a generation that stood tall in the face of unimaginable danger.

Mr. Edmond and Mr. Pirone were part of a moment in history when ordinary citizens became extraordinary protectors of our freedom. They didn’t just serve — they fought to preserve democracy, justice, and the future we are fortunate to live in today.

We owe so much to them and to every member of the Greatest Generation. Their courage on distant battlefields made it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms we too often take for granted. Their legacy is woven into the very fabric of our nation, and it’s up to us to make sure that legacy lives on with honor, with gratitude, and with action.

To Mr. Edmond and Mr. Pirone, and all veterans: thank you for your service. We stand on your shoulders. We will never forget.

God bless our veterans, and God bless America.

Eggs and Issues with Gov. Lamont

I kicked off the morning on Tuesday at the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce Eggs & Issues Breakfast.

Gov. Ned Lamont spoke to the economic strength of both our city and state, highlighting how we stand out among our peers. I’m proud to help drive economic development in Danbury under Mayor Roberto Alves’ leadership.

Every day, we’re making strides to attract new businesses to #DoItInDanbury.

Congrats to the PCC

Congratulations to the Portuguese Cultural Center on 24 incredible years in Danbury!

Our Portuguese community has always been, and continues to be, a vital part of this city’s rich fabric.

It was a joy to celebrate the center, culture, and the vibrant traditions that bring us together. Thank you to all the collaborators who make it possible.

Celebrating Greek Independence Day

I was honored to witness the raising of the Hellenic flag at City Hall for Greek Independence Day. It was inspiring to see the next generation embracing the language and keeping the culture alive.

Artwork at the DCC

Stopped by the Dominican Community Center last weekend to check out its art exhibition. There is just so much great work from talented young artists.

I'm proud to see the impact of state funding I was able to secure, supporting programs that bring more art and creativity into our community.

Rising Together Gala

Fun night at Person to Person’s Rising Together Gala last weekend!

It was inspiring to hear about the incredible work this organization does to support and uplift families across the communities they serve. The impact is real and it was an honor to be part of a night that celebrates that.

Big shoutout to our friend Francesca for being such a passionate force behind this work.
