Updates from State Rep. Farley Santos for May 15, 2026

May 15, 2026

The final days of session were a nonstop sprint. Running office to office to build support for bills. Fighting to get legislation called. Negotiating language. Filing amendments. Building consensus. Collaborating with colleagues. Trying to get every last priority across the finish line before midnight strikes on Sine Die.

Not every bill made it. But this session, we delivered BIG:

✅ Investments in child care and working families
✅ Stronger safeguards for immigrants and every resident
✅ Support for police, fire, and EMS
✅ Stricter protections and support for union workers
✅ More funding for public schools and special education
✅ Millions more in municipal aid for Danbury
✅ Investments in healthcare, nonprofits, and community programs

The work is never easy, and it’s never truly finished. But serving Danbury under the dome of the State Capitol remains one of the greatest honors of my life.

Thank you, Danbury. We keep moving forward.

Celebrating a Double Retirement

Please join me in congratulating Capitol Police Officer Giansanti and his loyal K9 partner, Bocci, on their retirement!

Thank you both for your years of dedicated service, professionalism, and commitment to keeping everyone at the State Capitol safe. Wishing you a well-earned retirement filled with happiness, relaxation, and many new adventures ahead!

Congrats, Officer Rodriguez

From growing up in Danbury to now protecting the very streets that raised him. Huge congratulations to Officer Chris Rodriguez on being named the Danbury Exchange Club Police Officer of the Year.

Chris loves this city! And you can see it in the way he serves our community every single day. A hometown kid putting on the uniform and dedicating his life to keeping Danbury safe. That’s something special.

Officer Rodriguez represents the best of Danbury: humble, selfless, hardworking, and deeply committed to others. Our city is better because of officers like him.

Congratulations, Chris! Well deserved and only the beginning.

Thank You, Sen. Kushner

Over the last few years at the Capitol, one thing has become very clear to me: State Senator Julie Kushner is one of the fiercest advocates you could ever have in your corner.

If you told me 10 years ago that we’d not only serve together, but become such a strong team fighting for Danbury, I wouldn’t believe it. But session after session, Julie has been someone I can count on whenever our city needs support, a bill needs work, or we need help getting something across the finish line.

This year was no exception. Together with our colleagues and local leadership, we helped deliver tens of millions of dollars for Danbury supporting our schools, city services, non-profits, infrastructure, and the future of our community.

I’ve watched Julie negotiate complex legislation, passionately defend working families, and consistently stand up for people who feel overlooked or unheard. She leads with strength, heart, and purpose. I’m grateful to learn from her every day and to call her my friend. And I’m always happy to call her the best State Senator Danbury could have.

A lot of Danbury’s wins happen because of teamwork, partnership, and people willing to fight for our city together. Proud to stand alongside Julie Kushner as we continue delivering for Danbury. And we’re far from done.

Thank You to My Team

Behind every effective legislator is an incredible team, and this session, I had one of the best.

Rebecca, Alex, Bernie, and Ted did it all: constituent services, messaging, bill work, scheduling, community outreach, you name it. They worked nonstop to meet the high standard I set for public service and to deliver real results for Danbury.

The truth is, none of this gets done alone. I’m beyond grateful for this team and the role they played in making this one of our most productive legislative sessions yet.

Being There Even When You Can't

Being in the legislature means we miss some special family moments, and that’s never easy. But thankfully we will not be in session later this month because there is no way I’m missing my little girl’s National Junior Honor Society induction!

I’m beyond proud of her and everything she’s accomplishing.

Sincerely,

Farley Santos
