Dear Neighbor,

Happy Friday! I hope you have had a great week. Please keep reading for information about a CTDOT update, a public information hearing, and more!

Green STEP Summer Training Program

Last week, I attended the Green STEP Summer Training Program award ceremony! Over the past three weeks, nearly 60 high school students from West Haven, Milford, Orange, and beyond gained hands-on training in green building and energy efficiency. Programs like this not only prepare young people for in-demand jobs, they also help ensure we’re leaving behind a healthier planet for generations to come.

Congratulations to all the students on this incredible achievement, and thank you to all the instructors for your hard work and dedication!

Extreme Hot Weather Protocol

Today is the last day that the Extreme Hot Weather Protocol will be in effect. Although the forecast predicts cooler temperatures in the immediate future, there is always a risk of unbearable heat returning.  If you are outside during the day, please take precautions to keep yourself safe  - drink plenty of water, avoid the sun when possible, and check on neighbors who may be vulnerable to high temperatures. See the graphic below for more tips on staying cool.

M=POWER 2.0 Retrofit Pilot Program

On Monday,  I joined Governor Lamont, DOH Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno, Efficiency for All, and several of my legislative colleagues to celebrate the launch of the groundbreaking M=POWER 2.0 Retrofit Pilot Program.

This initiative will retrofit 30 homes in New Haven—helping residents achieve meaningful energy savings, better health and safety, and stronger community outcomes. I’m proud to support programs that center equity, sustainability, and healthier futures for all!

State Grants to Protect Open Space

Since the state’s open space program began in 1998, more than 48,000 acres of publicly accessible land has been protected. It’s great to see this next round of funding, which will continue to improve quality of life in Connecticut and provide beautiful outdoor spaces for all of our residents to enjoy.
