STATE REPRESENTATIVE MJ SHANNON SWORN IN ON WEDNESDAY FOR FIRST TERM
January 8, 2025Democratic State Representative MJ Shannon was sworn in on Wednesday for his first term. Rep. Shannon will represent the 117th House district, covering Milford, Orange, and West Haven.
“I’m excited to get to work on legislation that supports our residents, protects our values, and creates opportunities for the people of Connecticut,” said State Rep. Shannon.
The swearing-in ceremony occurred in the House Chamber on Opening Day of the 2025 Legislative Session.
Rep. Shannon will serve on the Environment, Finance, and Government Administration
and Elections committees.
Born and raised in Milford, Rep. Shannon is a passionate environmentalist and an advocate for social justice and community development.
He graduated from Foran High School in Milford and Plymouth State University, where he earned a BA in Political Science and Government.
Before his election, MJ served as the Clerk of the General Law Committee at the General Assembly, gaining valuable insight into the legislative process. Now, as a state representative, he remains focused on empowering the community, building strong relationships, and addressing key issues such as education, affordability, and environmental protection.
