Over the past weeks, there have been many headlines in our region, from election concerns to school redistricting and transmission lines. Today, I’d like to take some time to share information about an issue that impacts us every day – safety on our roadways.

Greetings on this rainy day, where you may be bracing for flooding, curled up with a book, still working, or looking forward to the weekend’s events. Whatever the case may be, I hope you stay safe out on the roads, remain as dry as possible, and reach out if you have any questions about either the items below or anything else on your mind.

School is underway and Labor Day seems like a distant memory. Don’t forget to be careful out on the roads with all the new bus routes, students walking and now people on scooters and electric bicycles. I hope that you and your family are having a wonderful summer and enjoying all that Connecticut has to offer. People often ask what legislators do when we are not in session. Though we are not holding public hearings or voting on bills, we meet with constituents and stakeholders, research issues, and begin preparation for next year’s legislative session.

Over the past weeks, I have joined the Governor and legislative leaders to spread the word about bills and initiatives, met with leaders of our Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers (FQHC), and spoken with healthcare leaders around the state to discuss rural healthcare, APRN education and training, and urban health districts.

This week brought a number of updates, including the signing of reproductive rights bills and the Fairfield Police Department 5K.

This week brought a number of events both in Hartford and locally, and the weekend and next week include opportunities for many more, including Fairfield’s Sidewalk Sale and a regional Housing Conversation with Senator Chris Murphy.
