If you need assistance accessing food, Mobile Foodshare will be stopping at the Newington Social Services Market Square Parking Lot located at 84 Market Square on Thursday, May 21 from 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.

Mobile Foodshare brings perishable foods which may include fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, meat, and bread to anyone 16 years or older who is in need. Identification is not required.

Mobile Foodshare is in Newington every other Thursday morning.

If you can't make it to the Mobile Foodshare distribution, Foodshare is holding a food distribution at Rentschler Field in East Hartford weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. until May 29.

The Newington Food Bank is also open by appointment on Tuesdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

If you are able to, please consider donating to the Newington Food Bank, which is in need of the following items:

• Paper products: toilet paper, paper towels, tissues
• Household cleaning supplies
• Personal hygiene products
• Canned pasta
• Soup
• Canned fruit
• Baked beans
• Jarred spaghetti sauce
• Juice
• Coffee/tea
• Boxed dessert mixes: cakes, frostings, brownies, quick breads
• Rice-a-Roni type boxes
• Canned carrots
• Canned chicken, tuna
• Jelly, peanut butter
• Condiments: mayo, mustard, salad dressings etc

You can bring your donation to the Newington Town Hall Back Government Center Entrance. There will be a shopping cart in the lobby for you to leave your donation in. Please call 860-665-8590 to notify staff you have dropped off the donation.
