I have some wonderful news to share with you. Connecticut is seeing encouraging job numbers which means more people are finding work. I'll break down how our economy is booming in the first half of the year.
There will be rolling roadblocks and lane closures in both directions of Route 15 due to road work. Please read below to see when and exactly where to expect delays this month.
The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles is now offering some of its valuable services in a more convenient location. Keep scrolling to learn where you can renew a driver's license in person without having to drive too far.

Right now, our state’s economy is experiencing some major gains. According to the Department of Labor’s mid-year report, more people are finding jobs and the unemployment rate has dropped significantly. We need to keep our business friendly climate and continue to pass policy that will spur economic growth.

Expect Slowdowns on Route 15 in Orange |
|
|
Drivers should expect delays at night on Route 15 in Orange for an aerial cable maintenance operation. There will be rolling roadblocks and the right lane will be closed in both directions between exits 55A (Wheelers Farms Road) and 58 (Route 34). The work begins at 10 P.M. on Monday, July 29 and finishes at 6 A.M. on Tuesday, July 30.

DMV Services Available in Orange |

Do you need to renew a driver’s license, change your address, or request a duplicate? The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is now offering DMV Express services, by appointment only, in Orange! The office is located inside ShopRite in the Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union branch at 259 Bull Hill Lane.

The DMV Express offers the following services:
- renewal of a driver’s license or state ID
- duplicate of a driver’s license, state ID, or driver's permit
- name change, address change, and driving record requests
|
|

Our baseball team is the best in New England! The Beth-Wood Baseball 12U All-Star Team from Woodbridge are the New England Regional Champions after defeating Eastern Massachusetts by a score of 8-4. Our boys will pack their bags for a huge road trip as they represent New England in the 12U Cal Ripken World Series in Branson, Missouri!
Congratulations to the entire team for an amazing summer on the diamond, and good luck in Missouri! You have made all of us so proud for with your amazing teamwork, skill, and determination.

Nominate a Veteran for the Hall of Fame |

|
You are encouraged to send in your nominations for the 2024 class of the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame. The state wants to honor distinguished veterans from Connecticut who have continued to make a difference after leaving military service. Veterans recognized for the honor are leaders in a variety of areas, such as education, public service, the arts, volunteer activities, and community and business leadership.

Hamden Police Fully Staffed |
|
|
The Hamden Police Department is fully staffed for the first time in a decade. As of July 15, the force now contains 103 sworn officers, which will enhance its ability to serve and protect our community. Four new officers took the oath to join the town’s police department last week. CLICK HERE to learn more.

Stay Off Wooster Island in Orange |
|
|
Orange Police are reminding everyone that Wooster Island in the Housatonic River is off limits after a series of illegal events took place there. Police say trespassers have crashed boats there, camped, drank alcohol, and played loud music. The island is private property, and the owner does not give anyone permission to be there. |
|
Orange Police, Shelton Police, and the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection are working together to ensure that trespassers stay off the island. |

Connecticut Foodshare will be giving free food to the community on Tuesday, July 30 from 2:15 P.M to 3:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Church on Elizabeth Street. Make sure to bring a bag so you can bring the food home. |
