CT Earns Another Credit Rating Boost |
|
|
Thanks to sound fiscal management, Connecticut has earned another credit rating boost, this time from Moody's and Fitch. The two agencies attribute our strong budgets, aggressive pension liability payments, steady revenue growth, and long-term planning as key reasons for their decisions. These upgrades mark the seventh and eighth credit rating increases during the Lamont administration, a clear sign Connecticut is on the right track.
Moody’s raised Connecticut by one step to Aa2, and Fitch followed by lifting the state to AA from AA-. Both are the third-highest levels. |
|
The boosts are more than symbolic because they:
- Lower borrowing costs for the state
- Create immediate and long-term savings for taxpayers
- Make Connecticut bonds even more attractive for investors
This means we can continue paying down pension debt while freeing up resources for critical investments in other core government services like education, housing, health care, social services, and much more.

Check Fraud Due To Mail Thefts |
|
|
Woodbridge Police are warning everyone about a rash of mail thefts. Thieves are stealing business and personal checks from mailboxes and standalone U.S.P.S. mailboxes, including the one outside Town Hall and then fraudulently changing and cashing those checks for large sums of money. The Woodbridge Police Department is working with the U.S. Postal Inspector’s Office to investigate and address these crimes. |
|
Woodbridge Police recommend you do the following to avoid becoming a victim:
- Do not leave outgoing mail (with red flag raised), in your mailbox.
- Mail your business and personal checks inside of a Post Office.
- When writing a check, use ink. Fill out the sections of the check completely.
- Frequently monitor your banking activity to detect any fraudulent transactions.
- Report any suspicious activity, suspicious person, or suspicious motor vehicle.
If you are a victim or want more information, do not hesitate to contact the Woodbridge Police Department at (203) 387-2511.
