A Busy Week at the Capitol

February 7, 2025

Dear Neighbors,

This week was packed with committee meetings and public hearings, and we’re making progress on key issues. The General Law Committee voted to draft legislation I introduced to address the challenges faced by residents of Shady Grove Mobile Home Park in Danbury. This bill will strengthen protections for mobile home residents, ensuring greater transparency, fairness in fees, and improved oversight to prevent predatory practices. Housing stability is critical, and I’m committed to standing up for these residents.

Additionally, Governor Lamont addressed a joint session to present his budget proposal. While there’s a lot to unpack, my top priority remains fixing the Excess Cost Grant, a crucial funding source for special education. In Bethel, our schools face significant unpredictability in funding for students with special needs. The current system leaves towns scrambling to cover gaps, which isn’t sustainable. We need a solution that ensures fair, predictable funding so our students get the support they deserve without burdening local taxpayers.

Sincerely,

Raghib Allie-Brennan
State Representative
