Dear Neighbor,
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with you! After months of advocacy, I’m proud to announce that we’ve secured bonding for the much-needed revitalization of Parloa Park in Bethel. This funding has been added to the state’s bonding agenda and will be officially approved at the October 22nd meeting!
Parloa Park hasn’t seen significant updates in decades, and with the explosive growth in downtown Bethel—especially with the new Transit-Oriented Zoning District (TOD)—this revitalization will provide our community with a modern, accessible space for recreation. As our only outdoor recreational facility within walking distance of the TOD zone, this park is vital to ensuring our growing population has access to quality outdoor spaces.
Securing this bonding was a challenge due to the Governor’s focus on business development, which made it difficult to prioritize local projects like Parloa Park. However, I want to express my deep appreciation to the Governor’s office for ultimately supporting this important community investment. I also want to thank First Selectman Carter, Bethel Parks & Recreation, Speaker of the House Matt Ritter, and Bonding Chair Ron Napoli for their partnership and commitment to making this a reality.
This is a significant win for Bethel, and I’m excited to see the revitalization plans move forward. As we continue to grow, it’s crucial that we invest in projects that improve the quality of life for all our residents.
Thank you for your continued support, and I will keep you updated on the progress of Parloa Park as we move closer to breaking ground.
Thank you for your calls, emails, and testimony at public hearings. Public input and feedback had a direct influence on these new laws. I encourage you to continue sharing your views and make your voice heard.
Sincerely,

Raghib Allie-Brennan
