I’m excited to share that today on the Insurance Committee, we unanimously voted to raise House Bill 6147 An Act Concerning Coverage for Medically Necessary Treatment in this State – the very bill I introduced after hearing about Daniel Pearson’s story. Daniel’s fight against insurance denials for life-saving care opened my eyes to the urgent need for change, and his courage inspired this legislation.
This bill is designed to ensure that everyone in our state has access to the treatment they need, by holding insurance companies accountable for their restrictive practices. This unanimous vote is a big step forward, but our work isn’t done yet. Next, we’ll be holding a public hearing to gather community input and further refine our approach.
