History Made: HB7102 Advances, On to the Senate

View this email in your browser Dear Neighbor, As Chair of the Black Maternal and Infant Health Caucus, I am proud to share that HB 7102 has officially passed unanimously out of the House Chamber! This critical legislation calls for a comprehensive study to expand access to birthing centers in Connecticut and enhances the Fatherhood Initiative to include education and empowerment of fathers—supporting advocacy during pregnancy and the birthing journey.   This is a victory for maternal health, infant well-being, and family-centered care across our state. Thank you to my colleagues for their support, and to the advocates, providers, and families who continue to champion equity in care. On to the Senate! 3rd Annual Health and Wellness Day @ The Capitol May 20th Please join me for the 3rd Annual Mental Health & Wellness Fair at the Capitol on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, and May 5th is Maternal Mental Health Day. We will kick off the fair with a press conference at the North Lobby of the State Capitol at 9:30 AM, and the fair will begin shortly after at 10:00 AM. I hope to see you there!
